TWB Business Startup Course

Welcome to the 10-Step Startup Marijuana Business Training Course!

Congratulations! You have made the first step toward owning your own Marijuana Business operation. This business strategy guide will help you begin your own business without missing any steps. We have poured over numerous different resources to provide you with the essentials to getting your business started.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to become a millionaire right now is the dispensary business, and people are rushing to open a dispensary while the market is still wide open. There is of course plenty of work involved with getting your operation to a viable place, and as you read this you are on your way with taking the first exciting step! The controversial nature of this industry has tempered corporate interest and the expected groundswell that normally accompanies businesses with such high profit making potential. This is actually a good thing, because Marijuana in its essence is a product that should not be bastardized by corporations. It is imperative that good people like you get a solid footing in the groundswell of the movement to ensure these businesses can be as holistic and beneficial as possible before the “Walmart” phenomena takes hold.

The use of Marijuana for recreational and medicinal purposes is a growing trend in the United States. A 2010 Gallup poll showed 44% of Americans in favor of legalizing Marijuana, which is an 8% increase from 2006 data. Undeniably, the 2014 recreational legalization of Marijuana in Colorado and Washington shows the continuation of the cultural shift toward appreciation for this valuable plant. At The Weed Business we understand the importance of getting people established and profiting off of the legal sale of Marijuana, and we’re doing everything we can to help business owners become successful.

Gone are the days where the public perception of Marijuana users is delinquent and drug-crazed (a legacy of, among other things, Reefer Madness), because more and more people in the industry are showing that it takes upright citizens to keep a respectable business. This growing belief is strengthened by every Medical Marijuana patient who finds relief and reprieve in a natural remedy, and by every Recreational Marijuana user who turns out to be In today’s world it is more widely understood that almost every person who partakes in the industry prides themselves on the integrity of the product and the betterment of the human experience. Quality of life at its core is about the wholesome nature of sharing alike for the common good. Marijuana in its essence is about people with an increased awareness and fostering an appreciation for nature and the world around them.

This is an introductory course designed to outline the basic steps and processes to starting this specialized business. These emails will guide you step-by-step into the world of business ownership for dispensaries, and will include a basic lesson or outline of the week’s topic with the addition of suggested readings and an itinerary of things you will need to accomplish during the week before you move on to the next step (week one of the course).

Unlike some organizations that purport to help you, but just bombard you every day with “informative” emails on how to start a business that are actually just sales pitches for their extremely expensive materials, The Weed Business places our focus on seeing you reach your goal. There are no hidden fees or additional materials after the initial sign-up. Our packages are moderately priced and all inclusive because we want you to have the materials needed to be successful.

That’s why we include the Dispensary Guide as a free download when you sign up for this course! The Dispensary Guide Download is designed to work together with this course to provide all the information right at your fingertips.

Your lifetime-membership allows you full access to the 10-week course so you can follow along at the pace we set, read ahead if you are industrious, or take some extra time with the assignments that you need more time with. The Dispensary Guide provides supplementary readings that expand on the topics for each week.  The assignments are spaced and organized to help you build on knowledge with each course topic, and timed appropriately to help keep you on track. We know that nobody can do the work for you but we intend that you take the valuable information and use it to go out and learn what you need to properly file your paperwork, acquire a location, gather a collective and become a well respected staple in your community.

In fact that is the most important theme of this course – that you have to do your own research and legwork to make sure your business is operating within the parameters of local ordinances. State and local laws trump Federal laws unless a Federal officer takes special interest in your case, and the likeliness of this decreases for businesses that are run professionally and do not do anything on or involving federal lands. The Obama Administration appointed Attorney General announced that raiding medical Marijuana facilities is the very lowest priority for federal drug enforcement agents, and with the growing awareness that medical Marijuana patients are more akin to our grandmothers than previously perceived street scum, it is expected this stance will hold through future administrations. So keep your business healthy and profitable through taking some important measures in the beginning that will help you in the long run. Covering all of the bases addressed in this 10 week course will help you do just that.

Following some of these basic guidelines will ensure that your business will not only be legitimate, but will also be a valuable community asset providing an essential service. Many dispensary owners have even found themselves in a position to expand the positive social impact of their business to other community members through paying taxes and raising awareness of the positive aspects of the industry.

This format will keep you on track, and by the end of your 10 week session you will feel confident to overcome the fears, insecurities and procrastination that often accompany the creation of a new business. Get ready to call yourself a business owner!

YOUR FIRST ASSIGNMENT

Familiarize yourself with the basic laws and regulations of your state and town. Begin reading the TWB Dispensary Guide to help you cut to the chase in researching what you need to try to find out, and then look into information relevant to your specific area. Your goal with this first assignment is not to learn everything about these six topics, as that will come over the course of the next 10 weeks. Instead just read the articles that are most interesting to you, and do a little additional research focused on getting acquainted with the concepts of:

1. Collectives and Collaboratives

2. The relationship between caregivers (growers), patients and qualifying for a card or license

3. Tax laws and tax contributions

4. Basic differences in varieties of deliverables (hashish, vaporizers, edibles, etc.)

5. Non-profit and for-profit business entities

6. The difference between state laws and federal laws

We are here to help and want to see you succeed! If you have questions you can email The Weed Business directly at info@theweedbusiness.com.

Happy Trails!
